History

Some of the earliest inhabitants of the area were the Lenni Lenape Native Americans and the first European settlers were the Quakers. The first iron mine in Randolph was established in 1713 and is responsible for the development of the town. The iron mine supplied the necessary materials to manufacture weapons used during the American Revolutionary War for the Continental Army.

Randolph was incorporated as a township in January 1806. By the early 20th century, Randolph had transitioned from manufacturing to a vacation haven and a much favored area known for its ponds, lakes, woods and fresh air. Through the 1950’s, Randolph was populated with farms, large hotels and bungalows. Randolph is recognized as a residential town with a promising future. The town is family oriented, offering an excellent public school system and a variety of activities for all ages. Randolph properties are a mix of residential development and rural areas.
